It's time to announce the winners of The ACBL Jungle Scratch Race held from July 29th to July 31st. This exciting bridge safari invited players to compete in ACBL games, and accumulate as many "scratches" as possible. The response was fantastic with lots of participants and lots of you playing consistently well over the course of the 3 day race.
Paul Mott (pmott) emerged as the king of the jungle and has won the iPad. Paul is the proud father of two sons who are in high school and a daughter who's at the University of Virginia. He is the owner of two antique malls in Virginia - the Ruckersville Gallery and the Strasburg Emporium. His family and businesses keep him busy, which is why he says, "I don't get out to play bridge much, so BBO is bridge to me."
Reflecting on the contest, he added, "It was a fun, fantastic, bridge marathon that emphasized stamina. We all look at bridge in interesting ways. People get upset about mistakes, but we all make them. I prefer this kind of view of bridge – working at it over longer periods of time and grinding it out with a lot of very good performances rather than having to be perfect in a shorter period of time."
Paul's scored a scratch 53 times during the race! Wow, impressive - that's 17 more wins than the person who came home in second-place. Congrats, Paul, an iPad is on its way to you – well deserved!
In second place was Dale Sims II (sishyphus0) with a very solid 36 scratches, and just behind in third place was Steven Xing (steven002) with 35 scratches. Well done!
The top 30 players have all been rewarded with 10 BB$ each and as there was a four-way tie at 20 wins each for the final positions, it brought the total number of winners to 32. Very well done to all of you.
