Celebrate St Patrick’s Day with friends on BBO!

Mark Sunday, March 17, 2024, in your diary. You don't want to miss the festive atmosphere at the tables with free tournaments, prizes and surprises. What better way to celebrate the spirit of St. Patrick's Day than by dealing out some winning hands in a friendly game of bridge? Here's what's happening:

Free Pairs Tournaments | ACBL World Pairs | Ben & Friends Robot Individual

Free St Patrick’s Day Pairs Tournaments

There'll be 3 free tournaments throughout the day, the tournament chat is open and everyone is invited to share limericks, puns, jokes and participate in fun contests. Everyone is welcome to play and remember, it's free to enter!

Free tournament schedule:

10am New York Time (15:00 Paris): Pairs, Matchpoints, 10 boards, 2 boards per round
3pm New York Time (20:00 Paris): Pairs, IMPs, 10 boards, 2 boards per round
7pm New York Time (0:00 Paris): Pairs, IMPs, 10 boards, 2 boards per round

How to join the free tournaments:

  • Click Competitive and then Free Tournaments on BBO and search for tournaments hosted by BBOFest with the title “Happy St Patrick's Day“.
  • Alternatively from 24 hours before the start of the game you can use this link for quick access to the list of BBOFest games
  • Registration is free and opens 24 hours before start time. You will need a partner to register. If you don't have one, you can register with one of the lucky BBO Robots, or head over to the Partnership Desk where you can add your name, or invite someone.

ACBL World Pairs: St Patrick's Day Celebration

You'll also be able to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the ACBL sanctioned pair games. Players participating in any of the pair games in ACBL World games on March 17 will have the chance to win random BB$ prizes. A surprise BB$ gift will be awarded every 10 minutes throughout the day.

Furthermore, the trusty TDs will be hosting quizzes and contests whenever time allows, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Joining the ACBL Sanctioned Games:

  • Go to ACBL World on BBO.
  • Select any of the upcoming ACBL sanctioned pair games.
  • You will need a partner to register. If you don’t have one, you can use the Partnership Desk to add your name or to invite someone.
  • Everyone welcome. You do not need an ACBL membership to participate in the Open Pairs.

Ben & Friends - St Patrick’s Robot Individual

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with an innovative bridge experience in "Ben & Friends - St Patrick’s Robot Individual." Discover the blend of the classic game of bridge with our experimental AI bridge engine, named ‘Ben’ (Bridge ENgine).

Game Format

  • 8 boards, Matchpoints
  • Free entry, open to all players
  • 24 hours to complete your hands

Join the adventure and explore our latest experimental AI bridge engine variation. Get an insight into AI Bridge development and play against Ben, an AI bridge player trained on 100 million deals played by people in our ACBL sanctioned games on BBO. Ben plays a variation of 2/1, closely related to the usual GIB System.

Joining the Ben and Friends Robot Individual

  • Visit Robot World and look for Ben & Friends to sign up. You do not need a partner to register.
  • Everyone welcome. Free entry.

    3. Hi, you're almost correct! For our events, partnership desks will be available when the registration opens. For the free St. Patrick's Day tournaments, it opens 24 hours before the start time. As for the ACBL World Pairs, it typically opens about 2 hours before the start. If you prefer finding a partner in advance, you can also visit BBO forum here. Hope this helps!

  4. I am confused. Your emaul says there a game at 8pm ET; but on this page it is 7pm ET. Which is correct?

      Hi, for the Free St Patrick’s Day Pairs Tournaments and Ben & Friends - St Patrick’s Robot Individual are just for fun and doesn't offer any points or prizes. Meanwhile, the ACBL World Pairs: St Patrick's Day Celebration does offer ACBL points, BBO points, and the chance to win BB$ surprises during the games. There will be giveaways and fun quizzes during these ACBL games.

        2. They aren't in the Virtual Clubs section.
          - For the free St. Patrick's tournaments, it'll be available 24 hours before the start time. Go to the Competitive section and click on Free Tournaments.
          - As for the ACBL World Pairs, click on ACBL World and select any pair game on March 17.
          - Then, for Ben & Friends tournament, you'll find it in the Robot World section.

      3. So, to get to the Partnership Desk, I go to Virtual Clubs -> All clubs , I search for "Patricks"... and nothing appears. What am I doing wrong? Where is the Partnership Desk for St Patrick's Day??? - In the meantime, I have placed a post on Bridgebase Forums.
