Dear player,

As we look back on 2025, one thing is clear: BBO continues to grow because of you. All the games you play, and the kindness you show at the table all contribute to making BBO feel like home. Players of all levels come together here to learn, compete, relax, and connect. To all of you, whatever you do, and however you enjoy BBO we’re grateful for the time you spend with us.

During the holiday season it's time to think about everyone who play their part in making the bridge world better. A special thanks to those of you who have shared your bridge memories with us this year. Your stories are some of the most popular content we produce, and they inspire others to join the game. Keep sharing them, and help bring new players to the tables.

We were also inspired by the excitement you brought to the eBridge Cup, with more than 9,000 players from 131 countries taking part. That same enthusiasm carried over to the video series that many of you engaged with on the BBO YouTube channel. We hope these videos not only entertain but also help bring new players to the bridge community. A big thank you goes to the bridge content creators out there who are helping to spread the joy of bridge to the world.

A big thank you goes to the Tournament Directors who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Your dedication and leadership is so important to competitive bridge, and we appreciate all that you do for the community.

We want to acknowledge the important role played by NBOs and virtual clubs. Your support helps build a stronger, more vibrant bridge community, and we’re grateful for your continued efforts in promoting the game.

We're grateful for the feedback you’ve shared about BBO, which helps us continually improve the platform. With your support, we're making BBO better and more enjoyable for everyone. A special thank you to the players who signed up for the Beta program, your contributions in 2026 will help shape the future of BBO.

We’re thankful to the players who take time to help others, foster kindness, and keep the atmosphere friendly. Thank you also to the bridge teachers, and the people who sit down to introduce bridge to their friends - you're the grassroots of bridge and provide such a valuable service to the game.

Thank you for being here, everyone. You are the heart of BBO, and we look forward to many more moments at the table together in the year ahead.

  1. Suggestions:
    1. In all robots games, robot should invariably pick the best move and pretend “as human “. This should produce unambiguous the tournament result. It should be OK for any robot to select the best move based on the knowledge of all cards.
    2. While reviewing played games, a Replay option should be available so one can try different options, yet the it should not change the result of the original play.

      You may be interested to know that GIB has recently been upgraded to GIBBO, bringing smarter bidding, more natural opening leads, and improved card play in robot games.

      If you have a chance, please to try a few robot games and see the differences for yourself. 🙂

  4. Thanks for Bridge Base on-line! During the Pandemic, playing with friends on-line was a major source of socialization. We have kept it up twice weekly. Now when we actually get together to play, we all say we prefer Bridge Base because it is so convenient, shuffles for us, won't allow a mistake, scores for us, and we can play many more hands in the same amount of time. We love it!

    2. So True! In Face to Face Games I make all those mistakes. Even on BBO I have played the wrong but legal card. For example from A4 I have accidentally played the 4.

  5. one suggestion for 2026: for the competitive tournaments, need one more filtering selection: that is the "public" box, so many times the registrations are blocked by "this is private game" message.

  6. My wife and I thank you very much for the challenging BBO gsmes. We are elderly and our traveling is restricted, so we don't get to local clubs as much as we would like.
    For emails to specific contributors on page 5 of the Dec 2025 bulletin, do we send an email to you with a request for a specific contributor to respond to our questions or opinions? I would like to inquire about a recent specific BBO hand where, in my mind, some of my opponents' plays were "concerning" in nature. I WILL NOT CALL any of my opponents' plays cheating, but I would like an impartial group of independent directors and/or experienced players to check my experience to see if there is any merit in my concerns or if "I am "off the mark" and only imagining unethical behavior.
    I would have submitted this request before this, but I wanted to think about it some more. BBO's chat box is only available for about 15 minutes after the game and does not have enough room for an adequate report on the circumstances.
    That you for your kind consideration, I greatly appreciate the services you and your staff provide and for your superior magazine.

  7. I am 89 years old. My husband and I learned to make play 57 years ago. He could no longer play and has past away. Playing individual bridge on line is the best part of my day!

  10. Thanks for the site. On the whole I really enjoy playing on BBO. However, some partners can be rude and quite offensive if they don't think you're up to their level. I welcome constructive criticism, but abusive conversation is intolerable.
    Perhaps BBO might have sections for the different categories of players.

  13. Thank you for making BBO possible. I have enjoyed playing against tough competition. I have one request. Please make it possible to identify misclicks and correct them. I use the CONFIRM setting which occasionally disappears without warning. My regular partner has Parkinson's Disease which leads him to a misclick now and then. Very frustrating. Even with CONFIRM misclicks can happen. Please put in a button that can be used to identify and correct them. Merry Christmas and Happy New 2026.

  14. BBO is an important part of my life. I am elderly and somewhat isolated, and the games I play are always fun and have helped keep me mentally acute.

  15. Thankful for BBO especially during covid years. Please give the robots a class on opening the correct minor.

  28. I know there are lot of us, mid-level players, that would love more 0-3000 games. We are not at the level to play against Open players, and there are many under 2000 games, but not much for mid-level.

  45. Ik vind het heerlijk om bij BBO te bridgen nu ik door omstandigheden niet in staat ben om naar bridgeclubs te gaan.
    Meestal is de sfeer goed aan tafel. Het grote voordeel is dat je kunt komen en gaan. En, als je slecht gespeeld hebt "lig je er niet van wakker"!

    1. BBO is great for it provides free entertainment for both young and old. Our little Bridge Club plays every morning and comprises members who no longer can get to their old Bridge clubs. We have five members over 90 years of age. So thank you from us all.

    8. The opportunity to play and interact with my twin brother is a God send. We're 86 and while it's not the best Bridge playing, it's a nightly ritual that I couldn't get anywhere else and it's free😊. Thanks BBO!

Certainly hs helped the game grow with options available for practice, teaching. learning and playing serious bridge via tournaments. A great panacea for retirees helping them to keep their mind sharp.
