Are you considering the possibility of one of the opponents holding Q109x? Well, that's precisely the case. This particular board is the one Jim played on Day 2. Let's see his gameplay throughout the entire hand.

After winning the diamond lead in hand, Jim initiated the play with a small heart to the dummy's A. This move was made to anticipate if one of the opponents had a singleton Q. Next, he played a small heart to the J. This strategic choice allowed him to secure three heart tricks, even when East possessed the Q109x combination - it was the optimal way to play this particular heart suit combination. If the Q109x had been in West, regardless of the approach, two tricks would have been lost. However, given the combination was with East, he could deal with it by finessing the Queen against them.

Realizing that West had no remaining trumps, Jim proceeded to play a diamond to promote his tricks. In the end, he only lost to the Q, K, and ♣A.

It's the final day of the BBOers Festival, don't miss out on participating today, and be sure to tune in tomorrow for the story of the final day.
