My husband and I have been playing on BBO since the start of the Covid shutdown. So probably 6.5 years. Face to face local games are back of course. We now play on BBO to wake up our "bridge brains.
For something like 18 years+...Enjoyed the small WP-Refugees community for some time, then the "rubber" one too...Great times, great friends - a pity rubber disappeared, it was very funny!
Made lots of friends, many booted me, many said nasty words, just because of my German flag (!), but I kept coming back & will do so as long as I can! BBO helped me a lot through hard times, so I am forever gratefull to the wonderful people taking care of us "poor addicts"...LOL!
I am playing since last 30yrs on BBO. I m enjoying and extremely happy ans thankful to the organizers it's a great obligation specially for seniors ❤️ wish and compliments to BBO for your dedicated service wish u continue for years to come thanks again
In the early 2000s I was running a Bridge Club. OK Bridge was starting to reduce the numbers for our weekend and evening games because people no longer needed to practice bidding for tournaments in a Club, they could do it from their computer.
Once BBO started free sessions it accelerated so I created an account and checked it out. Soon we were shutting down the weekend, Friday, Thursday, Wednesday and Tuesday evening sessions that we were able to open in the late 90s. The club had to become focused on daytime Masterpoint games and lessons.
A few years later I was teaching uni students to play and organising practice games for them and playing Rubber Bridge on BBO.
I have been on BBO since 2005 and it is the best plateform to play not only online bridge but bridge also. I am from Raipur, India where there is very less bridge activity. I have made may friends on BBO. Thanks a lot for giving such a good plateform to play bridge.
I think I bought a game from Fred Gittleman years ago before he started BBO.I joined BBO when it went online and played for many years with my best friend until she passed away. Later I changed my profile and started again. I have always considered Mr. Gittleman and his team as very special people for what he did for so many people when he created this online game.

Loved to watch stars like Zia M.or Jaggy S., joined BIL and took lessons with Marty B. Made friends all over the world. During the pandemic I could organize online tournaments for my local club.I am still playing frequently.
Hi Everyone, I have been playing sporadically for about four years. I do have a question. My partner is getting kicked off frequently, it not by the host. What does that mean? How can he prevent it from happening?
Does anyone remember the time Ghengis Khan invaded europe on horseback? That was the time I joined BBO. However I could be off on the date by a few years.
When I created my account on BBO it was march 1st 2005, but I think I had been visiting it for quite some time already then for watching vugraph coverage of tournaments like the Bermuda Bowl and Venice Cup. But I could just as well remember that wrong as it's more than 20 years ago. Somewhere around 2017 I stopped playing bridge to get back again to BBO just a few weeks ago.
Can't remember. What I do remember is sitting around for sometimes 10 minutes waiting for a player so we could continue, when the game stopped because someone lost internet. No Stars or Tournaments, Everybody was welcome and refusal was a gamble, that a game would be not finished. Anybody then, was bent on playing Bridge and a key part of playing was patience.
I joined in 2006 after my spouse entered the European Parliament and expected to be in Belgium most of the time. I particularly enjoy teams of four, which I organise once a week for a circle of friends
I have been a member of this community since its inception. I have seen many, many changes in format, style of games, frequency of special tournaments, etc I have always been anonymous but have enjoyed the company of many, many of the same 'acronymed' friends for ever. Thank you for continuing this valuable, fun, often challenging community.

ıt has been 21 years sınce my start.Because of my time restrictions I cannot play tournaments but I enjoy every moment of my vısıts .
I wıshed I could automatıcally avoıd players who are marked wıth black as unexeptable by me.

The bidding by the Robots is horrendous and makes me wonder if I am being scammed in these contests

As I play with robots, I bid and make about 2-3 moves and the game disconnects. What is happening. I have checked my WiFi and it is working perfectly.

same thing happens to me. The play for free just ends & I have to start all over.
I was kicking around on MSNZone - which only had 2 tournaments a week (Free but no MP's). The poor directors had to track scores in spreadsheets.
Then in May of 2006, I heard of BBO - and have been online ever sense. Thanks to Fred, Sherri, and Uday - wedd done...

I think I was no. 7 or so joining BBO at the beginning in April 2001. I was a good friend of fred from the early nineties
