A Tournament In Memory of Maureen (Hallway)

The BIL Member Club is hosting a special Memorial Tournament to honor Maureen Hall (BBO: Hallway), founder of the Beginner Intermediate Lounge.

Many of you will remember her message shared back in December, A Thank You to the BBO Community”, a reflection of how much this community meant to her.

This event is a chance for all Billies—teachers, mentors, past students, and members—to come together, play, and share stories about Maureen.

  1. There was no one like her in my bridge life. She gave me opportunities to meet great friends, study under wonderful teachers and eventually teach in the BIL myself. I am so grateful to have met Maureen on her "world tour" a few years back in Traverse City. You lived a fine life and touched so many people. Thank you.

  2. Maureen was a remarkable woman. In 2003, She saw a need to create a safe and enjoyable place on BBO for bridge beginners to learn this wonderful game. Through Maureen's perseverance and dedication she offered beginner and intermediate players lessons, mentors, tournaments and special events for 23 years. She was an amazing woman who made it possible for thousands of BILies to learn bridge. We will miss you Maureen - RIP.

  3. Maureen’s gave 23 years to the BIL, creating a safe and encouraging place for people to learn to play bridge. She was always delighted to see her BILies advance in the game. Through Maureen’s perseverance and dedication thousand of people became bridge players. She made a remarkable contribution to the bridge community. RIP Maureen.

  4. I was sad learning of her passing , I have know her for more than 20 years she will be missed dearly .
    She was such a nice lady !

  5. Maureen's idea to find a place for novices to play was a struggle but well worth it. Thank you BBO for the Billies Retreat. So many of us have benefited and become better players.

  6. Maureen's idea to find a place for novices to play and learn took time and perseverance, but well worth it. Hundreds have benefitted from the free lessons and the mentoring program.

  7. What an icon for bridge influencers. Maureen inspired me to join her very friendly bils group.
    She provided a site for beginners and intermediates to play in a safe environment. In addition, she provided bridge players with free lessons to help them improve.

    I will miss her support and encouragement.

    appreciate what the club stands for, fun but competitive bridge. Maureen was very helpful in my early days as a member RIP Maureen.
