[RESOLVED] Global AWS Outage Affecting Some BBO Services

UPDATE 2:

Amazon has resolved the outage, and we’re now restoring the games and services that were temporarily disabled.

If one of your favorite games is still missing, please check back a little later — we’ll have everything back just the way it was shortly 🙂

Earlier updates (for reference)

These messages were posted during the outage.

UPDATE: There is still no ETA from Amazon on resolving the AWS outage, but here’s where we stand:

  • The old tournament list has been restored for all players — you should no longer see errors when viewing or joining pending tournaments.
  • Robot games are running normally again after we scaled up server capacity.
  • To ease the load, some of the free Daylongs, the Weekly Free Instant Tournament, and the Solitaire games have been temporarily discontinued. These will return as soon as systems are stable.

We’re monitoring closely and will keep restoring features as soon as the situation improves.

There is a global AWS (Amazon Web Services) issue currently affecting parts of BBO. At the moment, the most visible symptom is that tournament lists may fail to load.

As the outage continues on Amazon’s side, we’re seeing increased load on other systems, such as the robot servers, which rely on AWS to scale. Depending on how long the issue lasts, some additional features may also be affected.

What still works (and is unlikely to be impacted):

  • Casual tables: You can still play, chat, and socialize.
  • Team matches: Any experienced BBO player can start one; anyone can join open team matches looking for players.

Our team is aware and actively working with our service providers to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
