With a sequence of three touching honors, you are happy to lead the ♠K. Declarer wins with dummy’s ♠A and leads the ♦5. Your partner follows with the ♦2 and declarer plays the ♦Q. What is your plan for the defense? Which card will you play on this trick?

Point to Remember
An opening lead from three touching honors is good for two reasons. It is safe, because the lead cannot give a trick away in the suit. It is also constructive because by removing declarer’s stopper(s) you may be able to establish some tricks for the defense.
