Our Players: The heart of BBO

2024

11.6 Million Monthly Visits! Thank YOU
BBO solidifies its position as the world's largest online bridge platform, reaching 11.6 million monthly visits and continues to grow its global player base.

At BBO, everything we do is guided by one essential thread: our players and their passion for the incredible game of bridge. You inspire us every day with your feedback — whether it’s words of encouragement or constructive suggestions — and that’s what helps us grow and improve.

The story of BBO is inextricably linked to you, the players. Your experiences, connections, and love for the game shape everything we do. And it’s your stories that remind us why we do what we do.

Here are some incredible stories you’ve shared with us:

  • Anonymous BBO Player: “I’ve been playing on BBO since I was a beginner. Through BBO, I found not only my bridge partner but also my life partner — my husband! I’ve gone on to teach bridge to juniors, and now BBO is not just a place to play — it’s an essential part of my happy life.”
  • From Helene: “I’ve been on BBO since 2001. Through BBO, I’ve made so many new friends, which has been a huge help whenever I move to a new country (which happens often!). I’m also a frequent contributor to the Bridge Base Forums and even created the Forum Precision stock convention card. I’m not the best bridge player out there, but the community and learning experience on BBO have been invaluable.”
  • Anonymous BBO Player: “I live in England, and thanks to BBO, I can play bridge with my dear friend who lives in Virginia. During the COVID lockdowns, it was a lifeline — keeping us sane and connected when we couldn’t go out and socialize. Even now, I log on whenever I get the chance, joining tables and staying connected with the bridge world."
  • From Amy: “My bridge journey began online with classes from Amy Nellisen (amynel) and Morris Jones (bridgemojo). During the pandemic, I played on BBO with my grandmother, who was in her late 90s. We played together from when she was 97 until she passed away at 100 and a half. She always said, ‘Bridge is good for your mind!’ BBO gave us a way to connect regularly, practice the game, and share so many wonderful moments.”
  • From Eduardo: “I started playing bridge in 1979 when my brother returned from France and taught me and my two brothers. We played every Saturday afternoon. Later, I joined a club in Rio de Janeiro and took classes to improve my game. When COVID hit, the club had to close its doors — but then I found BBO. Through BBO, I kept playing with old friends and made new ones. Just last week, our club reopened for a Christmas game with many familiar faces, but it’s still not fully back. Even so, bridge is about friendship and entertainment, and BBO makes that possible, even from a distance.”
  • From Joan: “As someone who is disabled, I can only play bridge online — and BBO has been a lifeline for me. It would be wonderful if more ACBL games offered opportunities for gold, silver, and red points beyond online-only points. I no longer belong to a local club, but thanks to BBO, I can still enjoy my favorite game and connect with others.”

These stories reflect the heart of BBO: a place where bridge brings people together, fosters friendships, and creates memories that last a lifetime. Thank you for sharing your personal stories with us — you are the reason we keep striving to make BBO the best it can be.
