May 17 - 23: Play in BBO ACBL Club Championship Games

Don't miss the ACBL Club Championship games that are taking place next week: Monday to Sunday, May 17-23.  The regular ACBL Speedball games at 10AM, the 3PM and 8PM New York Time — will be upgraded to ACBL Club Championship Games.

There’ll be upgraded Masterpoints and BB$ prizes for the top five pairs, as well as five prize winners, picked during games at random. Make sure you join in, as it promises to be a very special week. Come and play!

Play the ACBL Speedball Pairs games listed below to get a chance to win:

Day 1    Monday, May 17: 10AM Speedball (IMP) Pairs, 3PM Speedball (MP) Pairs and 8PM Speedball (IMP) Pairs
Day 2    Tuesday, May 18: 10AM Speedball (IMP) Pairs, 3PM Speedball (MP) Pairs and 8PM Speedball (IMP) Pairs
Day 3    Wednesday, May 19: 10AM Speedball (IMP) Pairs, 3PM Speedball (MP) Pairs and 8PM Speedball (IMP) Pairs
Day 4    Thursday, May 20: 10AM Speedball (IMP) Pairs, 3PM Speedball (MP) Pairs and 8PM Speedball (IMP) Pairs

Prizes

  • These games award more ACBL masterpoints to top finishers, depending on the total number of tables.
  • 10 BB$ to top 5 pairs in each of the ACBL Club Championship games.
  • 5 prizes of 5 BB$ to 5 lucky players in each of the ACBL Club Championship games.

The same Conditions of Contest apply to our ACBL Club Championship games as to our usual Speedball games. These are fast 12 board games and cost 1.25 BB$ to enter.

How to join

  • Click ACBL WORLD and look for "ACBL Club Championship Games" (there's a Search box at the top)
  • There will be three games every day, Monday to Sunday, in the week of May 17-23, starting at 10AM, 3PM and 8PM US Eastern Time.
  • Please log in 10-15 minutes or more before start time so you have time to register. Bring your favorite partner, or grab a new partner from the Partnership desk.
  • The games will be visible and open for registration about 2 hours before start time (from 8AM to 10AM, from 1PM to 3PM and from 6PM to 8PM US Eastern Time).

Speedballs were fun when I was a pup, but too often the rush starts at hand one generating an unrelaxed mood, often the feeling to rush is used as an unethical tactic to eliminate req'd time for focus. I don't and won't play them. This is all about generating revenue and convincing a false value of points.

  4. Absolutely agree with Denis Parsons. I have never played in a speedball event and I never will. And I am not known as a slow player

  6. Dennis has a point which is supported by the rising popularity of 18 board (6 min/board) games vs the speedball (5 min/board)

  7. Why are all these games of the "Speedball" variety? Not that my opinion means that much, but, I find Speedball as a form of a bridge game totally adverse to the idea that occasional thinking is good to determine a good outcome. 5 minute boards hardly gives one much chance to think, let alone finish a board.
