What’s special about Stardust Week? You’ll earn double regular Masterpoints® in the Virtual Clubs, and points will be 1/4 gold, 3/4 black!

Here’s how Stardust Week works

  • Any Virtual Club game starting between 12:01 am on Monday, November 23, and 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 29, will automatically be included in the event (all times are US EST)
  • All games pay DOUBLE regular club Masterpoints®, and the points awarded will be 1/4 gold, 3/4 black
  • There will be no overalls or combining of scores. It’s your regular club game with new, temporary conditions.

Finding Your Stardust Week Game

From the main menu in BBO click on VIRTUAL CLUBS => ACBL North America and write the name of your club in the search box.

You’ll only be able to play if your club has set up a Virtual Club on BBO. If your club hasn’t set one up yet get in touch with your club manager and ask them to fill out this form.

For all the details on Stardust Week here are the FAQ on the ACBL website.

Hopefully you'll be able to take part and win gold!

  1. Back in the Dark Ages, Rule 17 would apply and an adjusted score would be appropriate. But I got out of directing and bridge about 1980 and the rules are a bit different now. If you can get penalized for having a cell phone that is on at a tournament, I would like to think that improper table talk would also rate a penalty. The Active directors would have to make that call.

  2. There is too much talk by opponents in the chat box, even while hands are being played. This is distracting and close to cheating when an opponent says to partner before or during hand play, "We're playing inverted minors," "don't forget we're playing Bergen," or other such comments. Also, some opponents type their alerts in the chat box which helps partner. If technically possible it would be good if the chat box could be turned off automatically once players commence a hand.

How does one complain and not be penalized when the opponents are playing slowly and time is running out.
Also, self-proclaimed advanced opponents refused to accept my obvious claim.
In both situations partner & I were unable to bid/play the 3rd hand of those rounds.

  5. Today’s tournament, opponents played very slowly , penalizing us for not completing board 12 on time. It was makeable and they doubled us.
How does one complain when the opponents are playing slowly and time is running out. They played slowly on all boards.

  6. Umhhh......You forgot to mention that the tournament fee has gone up 60%.

Ah well. not everything is always as it seems.

  7. This is copied from above: "What’s special about Stardust Week? You’ll earn double regular Masterpoints® in the Virtual Clubs" On ACBL live, the points are only 1.5 of BBO.
What is the reason for this?

  8. I am suddenly not seeing the virtual club games on my menu that normally come up for the greater Houston area. When I "search" with the club names, "no games matching your criteria" is the response I get. What am I doing wrong?

  9. I am trying to play in todays 0-500 game but need a robot
That option does not come up
    What should I do?

  10. In today’s gold point game. #9951. My partner and I were damaged by opponents 2Club opening bid. Partner called Director Casinojacq who said it was a normal bid. Player had a normal opening hand not 22+ pts of a 2 Club opener. Partner did not make her normal 3Spade overcall because of that bid. Director did not respond fairly to us. Opponents came in 2nd They are not beginners. We got a zero on that Board. Board 5. We should appreciate your looking Indy

    1. I use Losing Trick Count (LTC) to decide if I am going to open 2C. LTC looks at the 3 top cards in a suit to determine how many losers there are. Ace is no loser, Kx is one loser, Qxx is two losers, AK, AKQ no loser, KQX one loser. To open 2C, I need no more than 4 losers.

      AKQxxxx
      xxxx
      Kx
      -

This is a 12-point 2C opener. It only has 4 losers and partner will know I have a very offensive hand.

This is not a gimmick bidding system. I have used it since the 80s and it was reasonably popular earlier, maybe before ACOL. It is not alertable, I just mention it on my card as "Strong" and say nothing about points.

      1. My partners and I also use this idea for a strong 2C opener. With one caveat - with 13 - 15/16 HCP, there must be a runnable suit.

I bid 2C on a hand similar to the one shown and the opponents complained to Dir that it wasn't a strong 2C hand. Our good score was adjusted to average minus by the Dir.

Since then I have changed the criteria to 4 LTC, and 13+ HCPs.

    2. Did you check out their convention card? If they play Precision, 2C is a normal opening bid. 1C is the strong opener in Precision bidding as I understand that system.
