Why the long maintenance last week?

Major Infrastructure upgrades for a smoother future

We know the recent long maintenance periods were frustrating, and you might be wondering: What was it all about, and will it happen again?

Over the past months, we've undertaken two major infrastructure upgrades—each requiring an unusually long maintenance window. If you were impacted by the downtime, we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.

Since BBO's early days in 2001, we've prided ourselves on running a 24/7 service with minimal disruptions. Over time, as our community grew and the demands on our system increased, finding a "safe" maintenance window became more and more challenging. This led us to postpone crucial upgrades for as long as we could, prioritizing continuous service.

However, technology evolves, and sometimes, the best way to ensure long-term stability is to take the leap and modernize. These past two upgrades—one focused on critical database and security improvements, the other a full migration to a more powerful and reliable server infrastructure—were necessary steps to future-proof BBO.

While these upgrades were largely invisible in terms of features, they will significantly improve the stability, speed, and security of our system. We recognize that what you experienced was the inconvenience of downtime and the hiccups upon restart, rather than the benefits behind the scenes. But the good news is: we're done. These were exceptional cases, and we don't expect future maintenance to require such long outages.

Our commitment remains the same: providing you with the best possible service, with minimal disruptions. Now that these fundamental changes are in place, we can go back to our usual swift and seamless updates.

If you were impacted by the outage and need to get in touch please contact support@bridgebase.com

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
