From organizing major BBO events to creating campaigns and connecting with players, Lou plays an important role behind the scenes at BBO. Originally from a small town in northeastern France and now living in Lille, she joined 52 Entertainment in 2022 and has been working on BBO ever since. We asked Lou about her background, her work, and life outside the office.
Tell us a little about yourself! Where are you from, where do you live now, and what does a regular day look like for you?
I come from a small town in northeastern France where there are far more trees and fields than people, and not a whole lot to do besides enjoying the countryside. After growing up there, I moved to Lille in northern France at the age of 18 to study communications. Going from a small rural town to a large city was quite a change!
During the final year of my degree in 2022, I joined 52 Entertainment. I've been there ever since, I've been working on BBO as well as several other games within the 52 Entertainment group.
Outside of work, I love staying active. You'll usually find me running, walking around the city, or exploring new places on foot. In fact, even during workdays, I never skip my lunchtime walk it's my daily excuse to get some fresh air and collect a few extra steps!
I'm also a big foodie and love discovering new cafés, bakeries, and restaurants with my boyfriend or friends. Whether it's a great brunch, an afternoon treat, or a good dinner, I'm always happy to try a new place.
What’s one fun fact about yourself?
I'm a huge concert fan. I always tell myself I'll only buy tickets for one date... and somehow end up booking three. Self-control and concert announcements don't mix very well.
I'm also the kind of person who's perfectly happy to wait in line for hours to get a spot at the very front. Honestly, the wait is part of the experience for me, the excitement before the show starts is almost as fun as the concert itself!
How long have you been working for BBO, and what keeps you interested? What do you enjoy most about working at BBO?
I've been with 52 Entertainment for almost four years now, and I've been working on BBO for the last three.
What I enjoy most is the variety. One day I'm working on email campaigns, the next I'm thinking about strategy, creative content, player engagement, or new product launches. No two days are exactly the same.
I also love seeing how BBO continues to evolve and reinvent itself over time. Bridge was a world I knew very little about before joining, and I've really enjoyed discovering the game, its culture, and its passionate community. Working on BBO Trainer as well brings even more opportunities to innovate and tackle new challenges.
What’s something players might not realize about your work?
People are often surprised by how much creativity goes into it. A big part of the job is understanding the community and thinking about what players truly want and need.
Whenever we create something whether it's a campaign, a feature announcement, or new content we always try to put players first. We genuinely want everyone to feel included and represented in what we build.
If you could describe BBO in three words, what would they be?
Discovery. Community. Passion.
If you could leave one message for the BBO community, what would it be?
Thank you for your passion, and your feedback. BBO wouldn't be what it is today without its players, and we're excited to keep building the future of bridge together.
Do you have any interesting or memorable story you'd like to share?
One thing that has really surprised me over the years is how different card game communities can be. I work on both BBO and Canasta Junction, and even though they're both card games with passionate players, the communities have very different personalities.
At first, you might think a card game is just a card game. But the more time you spend with players, the more you realize that every game develops its own culture, traditions, and sense of community. I find that fascinating, and it's one of the reasons I enjoy working across different products.
