Hello everyone, I’m Young and I’d like to share my story.

I first came into contact with bridge through a school club activity. At the time, I just wanted to try something new, but unexpectedly, it gave me many new experiences and things to think about.

At the beginning, I thought bridge was a game full of gambling elements, but that is not the case. In bridge, there are different roles, such as declarer and dummy, and knowing how to work with your partner to win a deal requires a lot of skill and experience. At first, I played without much direction, but as I gradually learned some techniques, I began to pay more attention to how each hand should be played. I also found a lot of enjoyment in the process. Playing with friends, we exchange ideas, learn from each other, and improve together.

Through bridge, I’ve started to learn how to handle setbacks and not give up too quickly. In every deal, the cards are different, some good and some bad. Even with a poor hand, complaining doesn’t really help, so I try to think it through and find the best way to play it. In a way, it reminds me that while we can’t choose what we get, we can still try to make the most of it.

Bridge has also helped me see that the game takes patience. Sometimes you need to be aggressive, and sometimes you need to be careful. I’m still learning, but I’ve found that if I keep thinking and keep trying, each hand becomes a chance to improve a little.

Finally, I would like to thank my teacher, Peter Lai. Thank you for your patience in teaching me, helping me go from knowing nothing to gradually learning how to think, and for that one sentence: “You need to have confidence first.”
