I learned to play bridge while in college at Lenoir Rhyne College, Hickory, NC. I have never stopped playing bridge, but only social until I purchased a computer and started playing bridge on AOL. I met a fun group of people to play with daily! So off we went and continued our fun there. None of these friends were from NC so I never had a chance to meet them until someone said, “Let’s go meet at a tournament and play face to face!”
It was decided to go to Chicago for the Nationals! I had only played one event at a Hickory tournament! But my husband agreed I should go, so I went, met them all face to face, played the tournament and loved it! This started years of going around the east coast playing tournaments with these friends… almost never with local people.
I did start playing at the local clubs over the years which I also enjoyed. Some health problems, surgeries, etc. ended my travels. These days I play in the local club but I also play at BBO, several times most days. I love bridge and believe it keeps my brain very healthy as I age. One sad thing is so many of my online friends have passed away and my local friends/partners do not like online bridge so I play with Robots on BBO!
Thank you for having Robots and all the fun tournaments on BBO! I have managed to score 5200+ points over the years and am a Sapphire Life Master. Not much chance to move to Diamond Life Master due to a lack of gold/platinum points! This is due to the late time I joined ACBL.
