Thank you to all the players for the constructive and helpful feedback that has driven the changes for the new redesigned Tournament List on BBO.
The new list makes it easier to find games with a smarter filtering system, you can narrow down by format, scoring type, club, and more.
There's now a feature that was added in direct response to your suggestions - the Compact View option, that allows you to see lots of tournaments on one screen. If you prefer more detail you can select a wider view with bigger spacing. Switching is simple: just click the icons at the top right of the tournament list to toggle the views.

I agree with the majority of the comments regarding the new layout. Not convenient at all, I couldn't even find the ''claim'' bottom option; it is hidden.
With the new layout you can't see the names of the tournaments in normal (portrait) position on a mobile phone. Have to rotate to see. And then scroll, a lot, because in landscape you only see one tournament at a time. It really is a retrograde step, I so wish BBO hadn't done this. Really, really detracts from my enjoyment

I have played on BBO since shortly after the site opened. The site has continued to evolve nicely over the years...except for this. At best, it is cumbersome. At worse, it is illogical and useless. Example: the "filters" are duplicates of the options. The print is smaller and lighter. The chart has more white space than words. On my 17" laptop, I can only see 4 games! Do your customers a favor and ditch this now.
Hi, thanks for sharing your thoughts! If you’d like a more compact view, you can use the options beside the search box to switch between 2-row and 3-row layouts. Choosing 3 rows will show more games at once. We’ve noted your feedback about the layout as well 🙂.

Amazing. I did not see one positive comment. And I have to join the rest. I liked the old format MUCH better. It is much harder to get an overview of what is going on and the individual games actually give you less information by cutting off the full name in order to have a 2nd line description. PLEASE go back to the old format.

The new format was designed to make it easier to filter and find games, but we know it takes some getting used to. I played in a 330 game in the afternoon and finished at 5:30 and I think that’s much too late. We used to always play in the 230 game which was perfect. Also I noticed in the end that four people had robots and one person with a robot one and I didn’t think you could have a robot in that game and I don’t wanna play in a game where there are robots. I don’t know what advantage all of this new stuff that you have done is I don’t like
Hi Jean, robots are usually used to fill in temporarily if a player is slow or has connection issues. Also, if you’re referring to an ACBL game, the best place to send your comments about scheduling is acbl@bridgebase.com, they’ll be able to review your suggestion directly.

this is the most. stupid thing -- the old. adage is if it isn't broken why fix it.. please return to the simple and easy to use format. I have limited vision - you will lose me.. this is my only entertainment since I cant play face to face any more.

The old format was great. The new design is a big step backwards. Why do tech people always think change is better? It looks as if the new design wasn't done by bridge players. My favorite game is gone. Bring solitaire IMP duplicate back please.

Please go back to old format. Can’t play on a phone at all. Confusing and hard to find tournaments to play. Seems to emphasize acbl clubhouse games even more than before

If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. Older interface was great. Easy to find anything you want. And, to make things worse, you cannot register for free daily tournaments: an error is generated 😓☹️😫

Why “ fix” what already works?? You’ve made it a pain to play now. Why in God’s name remove the 18 board games that started at ten after the hour for good players??
Hi Bob, the 18-board games aren’t gone. 🙂 During October 13–19, we’re celebrating Octoberfest Week, so those games at that time have been upgraded! They still award ACBL masterpoints®, plus now include BB$ prizes for top finishers and random BB$ draws, all with a lower entry fee (3.99 BB$) this week.

Extremely incompetent design. How can there be a filter, and yet what is visible is less than before? And when you apply it, make sure the filter can also hide tournaments that should not be shown at all.

This is one of the worst things that BBO have done since I started using the platform in 2011. Now, everything is mixed up, so we have quite a goulash (but not goulash tournaments - we have the goulash of EVERYTHING!!!). Kindly, transfer my best regards to the author of this "solution" and fire him/her!

This is a comment in general. I find far more what mom and I used to call "computer hands" being generated. Like the opponents having 5-1 split in trump...

I was shocked when I saw the new format. I thought something was wrong with my app. I wrote to BBO and they didn't explain that it was something that was intentionally done to "improve" our experience. It makes things so much more difficult to find, especially on a mobile phone. I don't know why they did this. I have other things to complain about, especially when players take much too long to bid or play and the robots don't replace them quickly enough.

Who is this designed for? Reading wise, it appears you designed it for a younger player. Entry fee with light blue background and medium dark blue is very difficult to make out.
Unnecessary boxes around the Host name looks like it was designed in the 1980s.
I can no longer see quickly if it is individual or pairs (I have an 11 inch screen).
The other design was good and has room for improvement. This design needs a complete overhaul.
Why so much white space between the Tournaments? We hop on moments before. I do not want to scroll to find it and miss the game. This reminds me, PLEASE stop with the incessant pop ups. We miss signing on to games as a result. It is beyond annoying. I am already on the site to play.
What does Just Play mean? I assume it is Daylong?
Thanks for your detailed feedback, we’ve noted your points on readability, spacing, and pop-ups. To clarify, Just Play under the “Starts” column means the tournament (like a Daylong) can be joined immediately. Other games will show a waiting time (e.g. 10 min, 15 min, 1 day, <1 min).

I was shocked when I opened my tournament list and I thought something was wrong with my app. I wrote to BBO and they didn't even explain why my screen looked so different. I thought something was wrong. I told them that it made tournaments more difficult to find, especially on a mobile phone. I don't know why they think that people were unhappy with the old way. I guess that's the feedback they received but I have other things to complain about, especially when players take forever to bid or play and it takes so long for the robot to replace them.

I hope it is easier to see than the last version. Very diffcult to see opp's cc. and our own cc without opening in another window.Very difficult to find game I wanted.
Could you make it easier to set up your conventions when playing with a robot.
Could it be made possible to store your partner and you convention card, as well as having you card easy to see by others, and for me to updated, when I change a convention

It is very ugly, ugly, ugly and there is no "COMPACT" view. Well, if "lots" means 6 instead of 4, then yes... It looks like design of a 1st grader. Design of BBO is going worse and worse - you should fire people that make these changes...

I was perfectly happy with the old version. I find this one a little confusing. I can't look at a page and tell what games are individual. Have to search through all the games to find individual, then it's a guess, as they are not marked.

I think the redesign is terrible. It is much harder to find the game you are looking for. Too much stuff on the page.
The Compact View has about 32 blank lines before *each* listing for me. (Chrome/Win7).

I feel like on mobile this is clearly worse. A filter is meant to help you find what you want faster. I already click through two panels to even get to the point where I would use a filter in this update. Also, the filters don’t seem to save once I’ve logged off. So now I have to click on average more, defeating the purpose. Also the text for the title of the tournament doesn’t fit on mobile anymore. Sorry, I see the effort, but it feels like it still has some details to improve.

Great to see the improvement. It would be good if Hand History received an update. I find it not straight forward to look back at hands with partner on review.

Nothing wrong with old screen. Put your money in the terrible bidding. If I have to learn a new screen, might as well go see what other platforms are available.

If you’re joining a pairs game, you can look for a partner on the Partnership Desk. Once matched, you can discuss and agree on which conventions you’d like to use together before you play.

I used the new list. It's nice to have filters to find the right tournament. However, changing habits and embracing new things always takes time.

Pl. provide some encouragement for players who do not have regular partners and not professional by allowing some reasonable free games.
Thanks for your suggestion! At the moment, we have a feature called the Partnership Desk, players looking for a partner can add their name there. You can either pick someone from the list and message them, add your own name and wait for an invite, or tick the ‘Match when the game starts’ box to be automatically paired with others who’ve ticked it too.
