Mother's Day Bridge Tournament - May 12

Mother's Day is just around the corner!

Mark Sunday, May 12, 2024, in your calendar. It's a day to honor the amazing mothers in our bridge community for all they do. To celebrate, we're hosting a special event open to everyone.

But wait, there's more! On this special occasion, we're excited to introduce two new games exclusively for women: Women's Daylong Reward and Women's Free Daily Pairs. Starting May 12, these games will be available every day on BBO.

Don't miss the warm and welcoming atmosphere at the tables with free tournaments, prizes and surprises. What better way to celebrate Mother's Day than by playing a friendly game of bridge? Here's what's happening:

Free Pairs Tournaments | ACBL World | Ben & Friends Individual


Free Mother's Day Pairs Tournaments

There'll be 3 free tournaments throughout the day, the tournament chat is open and all are invited to share their knowledge on quiz trivia. Everyone is welcome to play and remember, it's free to enter!

Free tournament schedule:

10am New York Time (16:00 Paris): Pairs, Matchpoints, 10 boards, 2 boards per round
3pm New York Time (21:00 Paris): Pairs, IMPs, 10 boards, 2 boards per round
7pm New York Time (1:00 Paris): Pairs, IMPs, 10 boards, 2 boards per round

How to join the free tournaments:

  • Click Competitive and then Free Tournaments on BBO and search for tournaments hosted by BBOFest with the title “Mother's Day Bridge Tournament“.
  • Alternatively from 24 hours before the start of the game you can use this link for quick access to the list of BBOFest games
  • Registration is free and opens 24 hours before start time. You will need a partner to register. If you don't have one, you can register with one of the BBO Robots, or head over to the Partnership Desk where you can add your name, or invite someone.

ACBL World: Mother's Day Celebration with Surprise Gifts

You'll also be able to celebrate the Mother's Day in the ACBL sanctioned games. Regular fees will apply and players participating in any of the pair games, individual, and robot duplicates in ACBL World games on May 12 will have the chance to win BB$ prizes. A surprise BB$ gift will be awarded every 10 minutes throughout the day.

Joining the ACBL Sanctioned Games:

  • Go to ACBL World on BBO.
  • Select any of the upcoming ACBL sanctioned games (ACBL Daylongs and ACBL Instant Tournaments not included).
  • Everyone welcome. You do not need an ACBL membership to participate, except for the Limited Pairs games.

Ben & Friends - Mother's Day Individual

Celebrate the festival with an innovative bridge experience in "Ben & Friends - Mother's Day Robot Individual." Discover the blend of the classic game of bridge with our experimental AI bridge engine, named ‘Ben’ (Bridge ENgine).

Game Format

  • 8 boards, Matchpoints
  • Free entry, open to all players
  • 24 hours to complete your hands

Join the adventure and explore our latest experimental AI bridge engine variation. Get an insight into AI Bridge development and play against Ben, an AI bridge player trained on 100 million deals played by people in our ACBL sanctioned games on BBO. Ben plays a variation of 2/1, closely related to the usual GIB System.

Joining the Ben and Friends Robot Individual

  • Go to 'Competitive', then 'Free Tournaments' and look for Ben & Friends to sign up. You do not need a partner to register.
  • Everyone welcome. Free entry.

  1. Are the mothers' day tournaments sanctioned? I am wondering if there will be points awarded for ACBL records

  2. If gerber is just for aces you need to improve it as I was in 7 spades partner opened 1NT I held KQJXX K JX KQXXX
    I BID gerber 4C his response was 4D 0-4 so I bid 7 spades expecting to claim and partner only had 3 aces ??? so I appreciate all your efforts perhaps you could correct this one before others do the same thing on the same hand.

    1. Qualified for what ? Robots are programmed stupid. They guess at your system and respond without knowing

  3. You are preparing tourneys for remembering of mother's day - but what about Father's day? Do you, in America, live under woman's iron horseshoe under their shoes?
