Get ready for BIC: Free BIC Practice Tournaments

The best way to prepare for the Bridge International Championship 2020 (BIC) will be to compete in our free BIC practice tournaments. There will be two available on Friday, October 23 and two more on Saturday, October 24 - starting midnight US Eastern Time.

The format will be similar to the BIC tournaments: daylong style, individual, with robots, 12 boards, Matchpoints. Your scores will be averaged and you get to see how you rank overall and against compatriots on the BIC leaderboard.

Your IP address will determine which country you represent (for example, Garozzo will represent the USA if he’s in the USA). If your country doesn’t have at least 10 players, you’ll represent the “Rest of World”.

How to win a prize

Option 1: Get a taste for the real BIC. For this, you'll have to play all 4 BIC Practice tournaments (Friday and Saturday) and be in the Top 10!

  • 1st place wins 6 entries
  • 2nd place wins 4 entries
  • 3rd place wins 2 entries
  • 4th to 10th places win 1 entry

Option 2: Don't have time to play both days? Just for the practice, we will also reward the daily winner. You'll need to play both daylongs to be in the running. The winner will get 1 entry.

How can I play?

Click on “Competitive” “All tournaments” and look for BIC Free Practice (there’s a Search box at the top of the list). There will be two practice tournaments on Friday and two more on Saturday.

Once you’ve registered, click on the tournament button to play. You have until 12 midnight US Eastern Time to complete the tournament.

  2. I played both BIC practice rounds Friday. It's now Saturday and there are no more practice rounds showing under Free tournamenets.
I'm hoping it'sLA local time , which is still 23:48

  3. Hey, to be in the overall top 10, yes you must play all four.

Exceptionally, we will also reward the daily winner (1 BIC Qualifier entry). For this you have to play both daylongs of the same day.

  4. Once you see the Bic free practice, you can click on it. This appears to do nothing. However, 1 or 2 actual free BIC tournaments are now visible at the top of the list. Apparently once you do these tournaments you are done for the day. Instructions above are far from clear, so I hope this is helpful.

  5. So Thursday, Oct 22, 11:00 pm is certainly later than midnight eastern time. Why am I not seeing the practice tournament?

  6. Dear Admin,
I have a group of players who are eagerly want to participate the BIC 2020, howver, they absolutely nothing to do how to register their name, especially to pay the fee. If you allow me to let them pay through the Bridge Association of Indonesia to collect their name and fee and also the Association will register them. Or they put the BBO ID on the list of group, and some one as a group leader will do it. Please help them ...
