Welcome to Bridge Base Online!

These Terms of Service for Organizations (“Organizational Terms”) form part of the broader Terms governing the use of Bridge Base On Line, LLC (“BBO”) products and services.

They complement and are to be read in conjunction with BBO’s general Terms of Service (“ToS”), which apply to all users of the Site.

These Organizational Terms apply specifically to any user or organization that has been granted access to administrative, commercial, or broadcast features on BBO that are not available to standard player accounts (“Special Access and Tools”).

All definitions, provisions, and conditions contained in the ToS and elsewhere within the Terms apply to these Organizational Terms unless expressly stated otherwise. In case of any conflict or inconsistency, these Organizational Terms will govern the use of Special Access and Tools.

By using a BBO account with such access, or by operating any Special Access and Tools, the user or organization agrees to be bound by these Organizational Terms, as well as the ToS and all other documents forming the Terms.

Special Access and Tools

BBO may grant certain users or organizations access to administrative or commercial tools that are not available to standard player accounts.

These Special Access and Tools may include, but are not limited to, tournament creation and management dashboards, communication systems, scheduling tools, tournament history logs, vugraph and broadcast functions, APIs, and other administrative or reporting features.

Special Access and Tools are granted at BBO’s discretion and may only be used by those to whom BBO has specifically granted such access. They may be subject to additional terms or specific agreements set forth by BBO.

The availability and continued use of these tools are subject to BBO’s ongoing review and may be modified, suspended, or revoked at any time, with or without prior notice, at BBO’s sole discretion. If a specific written agreement provides otherwise, its provisions will take precedence.

We may provide notices regarding changes to the Terms or other matters by displaying such notices on the Site's home page or another BBO Property. You agree that you are responsible for reviewing all such notices to be aware of updates and changes.

The Terms will govern any upgrades or updates provided by BBO that replace and/or supplement the BBO Property unless such upgrade is accompanied by separate (and/or updated) Terms, in which case those Terms will govern.

Compliance and Operational Standards

Accounts with access to Special Access and Tools must fully comply with BBO’s Terms, as well as the operational and ethical standards set by relevant bridge authorities, including the World Bridge Federation, national federations, and applicable laws governing fair play.

Users or organizations holding such access must:

  • Operate tournaments fairly, transparently, and in accordance with bridge laws and BBO’s etiquette standards.
  • Refrain from fraudulent or misleading promotion (e.g., promising prizes and failing to award them).
  • Ensure that any subcontractors or tournament directors operating under their supervision are BBO members in good standing and properly trained.
  • Pay subcontractors or assistants directly and promptly; BBO has no liability for such payments or related employment obligations.
  • Respect the integrity of other users and organizations operating on BBO.

Non-Compete and Exclusivity Restriction

While an account holds active Special Access and Tools, the user or organization shall not use BBO’s infrastructure, tools, or communication systems (including tournament chat, mailing lists, or mass-messaging features) to promote, solicit, or entice BBO users to migrate to or participate on competing platforms.

In addition, accounts with Special Access and Tools shall not:

  1. Organize, promote, or host similar online bridge tournaments on any competing platform;
  2. Engage in any business relationship, partnership, consultancy, or technical collaboration with a competing bridge platform or service provider that offers similar online tournament, hosting, or player-management capabilities.

Exemption: Bridge federations and leagues at the international and national levels – such as the WBF, ACBL, FFB, and similar organizations – are exempt from items 1 and 2 above.

These restrictions apply for as long as Special Access and Tools remain active, and they cover both direct and indirect activities performed by the user, organization, or any of their representatives or affiliates.

By abiding by these rules, we protect the integrity of BBO’s platform and community and prevent misuse of the privileges and visibility granted through Special Access and Tools.

Revenue Sharing and Payment Terms

Where applicable, users or organizations with Special Access and Tools may receive a share of tournament revenues or other payments as agreed individually with BBO.

Unless otherwise specified in writing:

  • BBO will calculate and report revenues by email each month.
  • The user or organization must submit a valid invoice within five (5) business days of confirmation.
  • BBO will remit payment within five (5) business days after receiving the invoice.
  • Revenue share percentages or per-table fees are pre-agreed based on the nature of the activity (e.g., national federation, virtual club) and may be modified by mutual written agreement.

Users or organizations may not offer, facilitate, or process real-money prizes, cash equivalents, or any form of online gambling through BBO. Prizes denominated in BB$ (BBO’s virtual in-game currency) are permitted provided they comply with all applicable BBO policies and guidelines.

BBO reserves the right to limit access to commercial tools for accounts whose tournament revenues fall below a threshold set by BBO. In such cases, BBO may, at its discretion, provide access to free or basic tools instead.

Technical Support and Limitations

BBO provides reasonable technical assistance to users and organizations with Special Access and Tools, which may include access to protected reports, masterpoint summaries, or player verification tools.

While BBO strives to ensure uninterrupted service, it cannot guarantee error-free operation.

Temporary interruptions, maintenance, or technical issues may occur, and BBO bears no liability for any resulting downtime or losses.

Communication and Representation

Each user or organization with Special Access and Tools must designate a single representative authorized to communicate with BBO regarding payments, scheduling, and account management.

BBO will treat this representative as the official point of contact.

Any change in representation must be communicated to BBO in writing.

Succession and Continuity

In the event of the death or incapacitation of a designated representative:

  • If a valid contingency plan or successor designation approved by BBO exists, BBO will work with the new representative in accordance with that plan.
  • If no approved contingency plan exists, the representative’s heirs or the organization’s management may apply within sixty (60) days to propose a new authorized contact.
  • BBO retains sole discretion to determine who will be recognized as the new representative and may deny any transfer of control.

Non-Transferability

Access to Special Access and Tools, and any associated rights or privileges, is personal to the authorized user or organization and may not be transferred, sold, or assigned to another party without prior written approval from BBO.

Any attempt to transfer such access without authorization will result in immediate termination of privileges.

Suspension and Termination

While BBO generally provides advance notice before terminating access to Special Access and Tools, all such access is granted at BBO’s discretion. BBO may modify, suspend, or terminate access at any time, with or without notice and with or without cause.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, BBO will immediately suspend or terminate access in cases of serious misconduct, including but not limited to:

  • Violation of the Terms;
  • Misuse or abuse of Special Access and Tools;
  • Fraud, cheating, or any deceptive activity affecting players or BBO operations;
  • Actions detrimental to BBO’s platform or community, including promoting or facilitating activity on competing platforms; or
  • Unauthorized use or disclosure of BBO Data, systems, or communications.

Termination or suspension under this section may be applied permanently or temporarily, at BBO’s sole discretion.

Amendments

BBO reserves the right to amend these Organizational Terms, the ToS, or any other part of the Terms at any time. When changes occur, BBO will make a reasonable and good-faith effort to inform affected users, including through email notifications, in-platform messages, or publication on the Site.

By signing in to BBO or by using any Special Access and Tools, users and organizations acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the Terms, including any future updates or modifications. Continued use of BBO or its Special Access and Tools after amendments take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Confidentiality and Data Protection

Accounts with access to Special Access and Tools may receive or have access to certain non-public data, reports, or information belonging to BBO (“BBO Data”), including but not limited to player behavior data, tournament or performance records, analytics, formats, schemas, algorithms, bridge hands or deals, scoring formulas, APIs, aggregated statistics, technical information, and any other information marked or reasonably understood to be confidential (“Confidential Information”).

All such Confidential Information remains the exclusive property of BBO.

Users and organizations agree to:

  • Use the Confidential Information solely for the purpose of operating tournaments and activities on BBO as permitted under these Terms;
  • Not disclose, publish, share, or otherwise make available any Confidential Information to any third party without prior written consent from BBO;
  • Not use the Confidential Information, directly or indirectly, to create, enhance, support, or assist in the development of any competing platform, product, or service;
  • Keep all Confidential Information segregated from any other data they may process or control, and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure; and
  • Limit access to the Confidential Information only to personnel who need it for authorized purposes and who are bound by confidentiality obligations no less protective than those set out in these Terms.

Upon termination of access to Special Access and Tools, or upon written request by BBO, the user or organization must promptly return or permanently delete all Confidential Information obtained from BBO, including any copies, derivatives, or aggregated datasets derived in whole or in part from such information.

Any unauthorized disclosure or misuse of Confidential Information constitutes a material breach of these Organizational Terms and may result in immediate termination of access and legal action for injunctive or other relief.

The confidentiality obligations described herein survive termination or expiration of access to Special Access and Tools.

The handling of any personal data is further governed by BBO’s Privacy Policy, available at www.bridgebase.com/privacy
